The Dehonian bishop Msgr. Teemu Sippo celebrated his 70th birthday recently; 40 of those years have been as a priest. Last Saturday, May 27, a celebration was held in Helsinski, Finland, to commemorate the event, bringing together Dehonian confreres from Finland and beyond. “You will always be one of us,” said Fr. Wiesław Święch during his homily; he is the provincial superior of Poland. Also among those present was Fr. Heiner Wilmer, SCJ, superior general.
As typical in Finland, the feast had an ecumenical character. Among the guests were the Orthodox bishops along with the Lutheran bishops and representatives of the Ecumenical Council. The celebration continued through Sunday, May 28, when Bishop Teemu celebrated Mass in the church of St. Martha, where he was ordained 40 years ago.
