“Pick the Way” was the name given to a hiking route organized the Dehonians’ campus ministry program in Portugal. It started in Valencia on April 27, 2018 and finished in Santiago de Compostela May 1.
These were five full days on foot, with yellow arrows pointing the way. There was also an inner journey through prayer, accompanied by daily personal cues. Eucharist was celebrated in chapels on the route. At night, the pilgrims slept in hostels.
Along the way, friends were made, bonds were strengthened, and above all, participants shared their joys and difficulties under the sun and in the rain.
Upon arrival, exhausted after a cold and early start, hikers rejoiced in their efforts. Following tradition, they got in line to receive their “Compostela,” the certificate verifying the completion of their journey. All returned to Porto with a sense of satisfaction for having achieved their goal.
