Fr. Jean Nicasius Thijs

Father Jean Nicasius Thijs was born on November 22, 1931 and was 89 years old. He took his first vows on September 8, 1955 and was ordained priest on July 17, 1960.
He was currently living in Nijmegen (Netherlands). He belonged to the Province NLV.

P. Jan Thijs after his priestly ordination was sent to Canada, where he had his first and decisive assignment in life. In 1961 he began in Pointe-au-Chêne, the French-speaking minor seminary, as bursar and teacher. He also continued to do pastoral work in a small English-speaking parish nearby. In the 1970s, the seminary was closed and Jan became pastor of two French-speaking parishes as well. In 2001, Jan returned to the Netherlands. He went to live in a community of Sint Jozef in Nijmegen. In recent years he had many health problems. He passed away on March 21, 2021.
