The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

With St. John we see, in the open side of the Crucifix, the sign of a love which, in the total gift of self, recreates man according to God. Contemplating the Heart of Christ, the privileged symbol of this love, we are strengthened in our vocation (CST 21). The icon of the pierced heart is more relevant than ever. We are invited to re-read all Scripture in its light (cf. CST 3) and to translate this spirituality into a style of prayer and apostolate. “We must never lose sight of our purpose and our mission in the church […]: a tender love for the Sacred Heart …, reparation with all its practices” (L. Dehon, Spiritual Testament). “With the word, with preaching, with writings, with the tools of social communication, spread ‘the breadth, length, height and depth’ of the love of Christ, which surpasses all knowledge” (John Paul II to the scj chapter delegates, June 22, 1979).
