Into your hands I commit my very life. (Ps 31:5)
Father Lorenzo Franchini was born in Ziano di Fiemme (TN) and was baptized there in the parish of the Blessed Virgin Lauretana on June 22, 1930. He was confirmed in Levico (TN) on August 22, 1937. He entered as a Postulant in Albino on June 27, 1946, and then continued his Novitiate in Albisola where he made his First Profession on September 29, 1947. He also made his Perpetual Profession in Albisola on 29.09.1952. He attended high school in Albino between 1941 and 1946, while he continued with high school and philosophy partly in Foligno (1947-1948) and then in Monza (1948-1953). He studied Theology in Bologna between 1953 and 1957 and received the Presbyterate in Bologna on June 24, 1956. He was among the founders of “Il Regno” and also wrote for years on “Settimana” magazine. Engaged in teaching, he worked for a lifetime at the Centro Dehoniano, dedicating himself with passion to ecclesial information.
Starting from the perspective of ecclesial information, first at Il Regno and then at Settimana, Fr. Enzo was one of the most significant figures of the post-conciliar season and of the pastoral renewal inspired by Vatican II in Italy.
On July 8, 2021, a figure who certainly made history not only within the Dehonian Congregation, but also within the Church in Italy, passed away.
