The province of Indonesia has a Justice, Peace, and Reconciliation Commission. Specifically, the commission works for migrants from East Nusa Tenggara, and does spiritual ministry for prisoners and victims of drugs. Recently, the commission has been working on organic farming in the spirit of Laudato Si. The focus of the social ministry is primarily with Catholics. When natural disasters occur, it collaborates with other social organizations to cope with the effects of the disasters.
Empowerment means that the commission assists people to be more independent economically, spiritually, and in community life. The commission tries to share God’s love through service. People should feel God’s love concretely by these works of empowerment, justice, peace, and solidarity.
