Remain in my love: The programmatic letter 2024-2030I. Introduction
Last month, in mid-January, Dehonians around the world were informed of the new General Administration's programmatic letter. In a series of four articles, the General Secretary shares with us the key points of this 6-year programme.
The Programmatic Letter 2024–2030, prepared by the Superior General of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Dehonians) and his Council, serves as a guide for the coming years and is inspired by the motto: “Remain in my love” (Jn 15:9). The document emphasizes the theme of unity, drawing from the “Sint Unum” and the example of St. John the Evangelist. It is structured around three main pillars: identity, communion, and mission, which shape the spiritual, pastoral, and organizational priorities of the Congregation.
Key objectives include:
- Strengthening Dehonian identity, emphasizing the Constitutions, initial and ongoing formation, and a return to charismatic sources.
- Promoting communion, overcoming divisions, and fostering effective synodality.
- Advancing the mission, renewing apostolic commitment and responding to contemporary needs, such as social justice, ecology, and intercultural dialogue.
Significant events, such as the centenary of Fr. Dehon’s death (2025) and the 150th anniversary of the Congregation’s foundation (2028), provide unique opportunities to revitalize community and apostolic life.
