18th Anniversary of the Kasanag Daughters Foundation in the Philippines
On May 27, 2017, the Kasanag Daughters Foundation, Inc. (KDFI), a social project of the Philippine Region of the Priests of the Sacred Heart located in Cagayan de Oro City, celebrated the 18th anniversary of its founding. The celebration started with the Holy Eucharist presided by Fr. Donald Longno, SCJ, and was followed by art exhibits prepared by the girls, a brief cultural presentation, and dinner.
The foundation, which provides shelter and rehabilitation opportunities to the victims of sexual abuse, was established in 1999 by Fr. Eduardo Aguero, SCJ. Currently, it takes care of 24 girls, aged 7 to 16. The project coordinator is Fr. Joseph Butlig, SCJ. Since opening its doors the foundation has assisted 190 women and girls.
