2016 is a special year for our Congregation. We remember Blessed Juan Maria of the Cross, SCJ, a Spanish martyr who was killed in a prison in Valencia (Spain) during the country’s civil war. In March his 100th anniversary of ordination, the 90th anniversary of his first religious profession and the 125th anniversary of his birth in the town of San Esteban de los Patos was celebrated.
August 23 is the 80th anniversary of his martyrdom. The general postulator, Fr. José Carlos Brinon, SCJ, offers us some insight into this figure, capturing the story of his vocation, his lifestyle and the unexpected martyrdom.
