From August 22-23, 2019, there was a meeting of the SCJ superiors of Asia. It was held at the “Biara Gembala Baik” (Good Shepherd Monastery) in Gisting-Lampung (Indonesia). Present at the meeting were Fr. Lukas Hadi Siswosasmito, (regional superior of the Philippines) as coordinator, Fr. Titus Waris Widodo (provincial superior of the Indonesian Province) as a secretary, Fr. McQueen (district superior of India), Fr. Thai (a member of the district council of Vietnam), Fr. Adi Purnama Susanti (a representative of ICA) and Fr. Alexander Sapta (general councilor).
The meeting agenda included sharing the situation of each entity, evaluation of collaboration among the entities, and plans for future collaboration. Participants also discussed topics such as formation, vocations, finances, the social apostolate, student exchange, personnel exchange in ministry, the Asian Centro Studi Dehoniani, the Asian Theological Commission, and the possibility of a new presence in Asia (East Timor, Malaysia and South Korea were discussed).
This meeting has become very important and useful for the development of the congregation in the Asian region, especially in light of the growing number of SCJs in Asia. Good collaboration will help the Dehonian presence in Asia grow in the spirit of Sint Unum.
