The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing (Ps 23:1)
Brother Amedeo Mason was born in Torreselle di Piombino Dese (PD), January 9, 1935, and was baptized at home on the 13th of the same month. He was confirmed in the parish of Resana (TV) on January 29, 1942.
He entered the apostolic school in Trent in August 1946 and attended the gymnasium until 1951, earning his middle school diploma.
Although he was so determined to embrace religious life, because of his ill health he struggled with various starts, suspensions and restarts of his itinerary, until March 18, 1962 when he returned to Albisola and was accepted as a postulant.
On September 28 of that year he began his novitiate until he made his first profession on September 29, 1963 (he would have celebrated 60 years of profession this year).
He made perpetual profession also in Albisola on September 29, 1966. He was in charge of the secretariat in Albisola from 1963 until 1970 and then in Genoa from 1970 until 1984 where he also served missionaries.
The missionary spirit was always alive in him and although he was never able to leave also because of his health problems, he always did his best to help the confreres who were present in the missions.
In Milan from 1984 to 1985 he served in the porter’s service and made himself available with the Missions Secretariat.
Also in the Genoa community from 1986 to 1990 he was in charge of the secretariat and service to the missionaries.
He returned to Milan in 1990 and remained committed to SAM.
Since 2014 he had been living in the Mussolente community where he remained until his health deteriorated at the beginning of the new year, so in recent weeks he had been transferred to the infirmary in Bolognano, where he passed away at dawn on Feb. 25, 2023.
