Fr. Andreas Suparman SCJ and His Council Begin Their Administration
On Sunday 15 December 2024, Father Andreas Suparman officially took office as Provincial Superior of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in Indonesia.
On September 17, 2024, the Superior General appointed Father Andreas Suparman SCJ as the Provincial Superior of the SCJ Indonesian Province for the 2024-2027 period. The appointment also includes the provincial councillors, namely Fr. Christorforus Wahyu Tri Haryadi SCJ, Fr. Florentinus Heru Ismadi SCJ, Fr. Petrus Sugiarto SCJ, and Fr. Felix Astana Atmaja SCJ.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, precisely at 5:00 PM, the Provincial Superior is officially installed through a Eucharistic celebration. the Eucharistic celebration was presided by Bishop Yohanes Harun Yuwono, archbishop of Palembang Archdiocese.
During this celebration he personally professed the Credo (DirProv 199). The councils also took an oath of loyalty to this mission. From that moment, the superior and his Councillors officially began their service as provincial administrators.
The Eucharistic celebration took place in the third-floor hall of the Provincialate House in Palembang. Present at the celebration was filled with around 72 guests: the Curia of the Archdiocese of Palembang, the General Leader of the FCh Congregation and her curia. Special invitations were also extended to representatives of religious brothers and sisters from around Palembang. In addition, SCJ confreres from Lampung and the surrounding areas of Palembang also attended.
In his speech, the Provincial superior expressed gratitude to many parties. In particular, he stated, “Actually, our ministry is nothing extraordinary; it is not about status or prestige.” This emphasizes that leadership service is part of religious and ecclesial life.
Bishop Yohanes Harun Yuwono also took the opportunity to congratulate the new administrators. He even presented a special rosary obtained from Pope Francis as a token of remembrance and support for their ministry.
