Father Hans-Dieter Hertrampf was born on January 18, 1940 and was 81 years old. He took his first vows on May 15, 1964 and was ordained priest on March 22, 1970.
He was currently living in Neustadt an der Weinstraße (Germany). He belonged to the Province GER.
Venite ad me, omnes qui laboratis, et onerati estis: et ego reficiam vos. (Mt 11,28)
P. Hertrampf was born in East Prussia on January 18, 1940, was expelled from his homeland with his family and came to Schleswig-Holstein.
He spent his school years in the school of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in Handrup. There he passed his exams in 1963, attended the novitiate in Maria Martental and studied Catholic theology in Freiburg.
Immediately after his priestly ordination in 1970 Fr. Hertrampf was transferred to the Gymnasium Kolleg St. Sebastian der Herz-Jesu-Priester Stegen, near Freiburg. He taught Catholic religion, history and social studies, and accompanied the students spiritually; he served as treasurer for many years.
Since 1996, Father Hertrampf has lived in Neustadt, first as rector of the community, then until 2013 as chaplain of the hospital in Hetzelstift.
The confreres say of him, “We lived with our confrere and he was a person who made community life more friendly through his words and spirit, but he helped us to face reality through his critical observations. The last years of his life were marked by increasing health problems and limitations. He endured it all with patience.”
