(Polish Provincial Curia) – Fr. Kazimierz Sroczyński, died at the age of 76 in Switzerland. He entered the Congregation of Priests of the Sacred Heart in 1958 and spent two years in the Minor Seminary in Stadniki. He made his postulancy and novitiate in Pliszczyn, and made his first profession on August 22, 1961. After completing his formation in Tarnów, and studying philosophy and theology in the Stadniki Seminary, he was ordained a priest in Krakow on June 13, 1969. He worked as parochial vicar in the parish of Florynka, staying only 2 years because he wanted to become a missionary in Congo. He realized his dream in October 1972 and tirelessly visited the chapels and the most remote places in the forest. He remained in Congo for 13 years and, together with other confreres and local Christians, he contributed to the construction of new missionary churches and chapels.
In 1984, due to health problems, he left the Congo to settle in Switzerland, where he was the first Polish Dehonian to be part of pastoral care in the institutions run by the Congregation. In 1987, in the territorial community established in Fribourg, Switzerland, Fr. Sroczyński became the first superior from 1996-99. He worked with the local Polish community and became the pastoral referent for Poles living in Switzerland. In the following years he also took on the tasks of bursar, councillor and, above all, parish priest in the parish of Attalens, a small village in the canton of Fribourg with about 3,000 inhabitants. He died in St. Joseph’s house on August 27, 2020 in Châtel-Saint-Denis near Fribourg. He was buried in Attalans in the local cemetery
