The General Superior, Fr. Heiner Wilmer, and the General Councilor, Fr. Artur Sanecki, visited the Portuguese Province March 8-18, 2018. It was their first formal visit, and they went with the hope of better knowing the province, confreres, communities and pastoral services. In addition, they were able to learn about the characteristics of the Portuguese entity, its potential, challenges and limits.
After visiting Lisbon, Porto and Funchal, and meeting with the confreres of the communities of the north and south, as well as the islands, they met with the Provincial Council. Then, concluding their visit, they identified some work topics, as well as encouraged the community to use its talents to better address the “here and now” and meet the needs of contemporary Portugal.
Mutual feelings of gratitude were shared, as well as a willingness to walk together in order to make the congregation more present, and the Dehonian charism more alive than ever.
