History
Koszyce Małe is a town located south of Tarnów. In the second half of the 19th century, Jews built a manor house here, which was purchased in 1917 by the Ursuline Sisters. The local faithful began to attend the chapel in their house. From July 1, 1972, priests of the Sacred Heart began pastoral work in this chapel. In December 1980, Bishop Jerzy Ablewicz established an independent parish in Koszyce Małe. Sacred Heart of Jesus. Five years later, the construction of a new church and a religious house began, along with a retreat house. The first superior in the newly erected religious house was Fr. Joseph Gawel SCJ.
Types of activities
The house was founded for young people who need space for spiritual growth. That is why we invite here mainly organized groups with spiritual, religious or secular guardians. We provide accommodation, food and pastoral care of a priest. The house has everything that allows you to experience a good retreat, concentration, winter and summer rest, weekend training or an occasional barbecue or other type of meeting.
The heart of the house is the chapel with the Blessed Sacrament. Guests also have at their disposal:
- 8 rooms spread over two floors (1 x 1-bed, 1 x 3-bed, 1 x 4-bed, 4 x 6-bed, 2 x 8-bed); the rooms are cozy, with an independent bathroom, with bunk beds; in total they can accommodate over 40 people;
- a recreation room with a pool table, ping-pong table, table football and a collection of board games;
- a small, cozy cafe;
- dining room, which also serves as a film or training room;
- a large garden adjoins the retreat house directly.
In the summer months, we invite you for a few-day retreat or leisure stays. In the garden there is a gazebo with a place for grilling, a lot of space and space for playing and outdoor games, a football field, a volleyball court, a mini playground and a large park with two ponds.
In winter, we combine staying in a house in Košice with skiing. The house is equipped with complete ski equipment for approx. 50 people. The nearest ski slope “Jurasówka” is located in Siemiechów (approx. 20 km from Koszyce Małe). It is a family-friendly slope where you can learn to ski in a safe way.
On weekends, apart from the summer and winter holidays, we invite parish groups and religious movements. Training sessions for animators of religious groups, retreat days, workshops, preparatory sessions for young people before the sacrament of confirmation, ALPHA courses, etc. are organized here.
Dehonian character
The spirituality of Sacred Heart is best reflected in the house chapel, which is placed in the central place of the house. It is situated in such a way that it serves both household members and guests. It is entered by two independent entrances (from the religious part and the retreat part) to finally meet together in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
The assumption of the house is also to create the possibility of a relatively cheap stay, so that all people, including those from poor families, can freely use it.
Challenges and perspectives
In the near future, an offer of formation retreats for youth and vocational retreats is being prepared.
