The Dehonians of Latin America met in Buenos Aires (Argentina) to reflect on some common themes and challenges, but also to consolidate the spirit of Sint Unum and to promote the international dimension of the Congregation.
From January 23 to 27, 2023, the Dehonian superiors of the provinces and entities of Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Chile and Ecuador) met at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Retreat House in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they strengthened their fraternity and their desire to continue the journey together.
The occasion served as a time to reflect on some themes and challenges typical of Latin America, among them the service of authority, interculturality, Dehonian youth and vocational ministry. There was also time to reflect on the new entity that has emerged from Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, who have come together to form a single province. In spite of some challenges in the the life of each entity, we are in a moment in which we see with hope and good signs what is happening in each place where Dehonians live. We are aware of the new challenges that are presented throughout our history, among them the exchange that begins to exist between religious coming from other latitudes to be able to live the spirit of the Sint Unum.
It should be noted that the meeting had a very pleasant atmosphere. The superiors had time for sharing, common prayer and had the opportunity to get to know each other better.
