The meeting was held in the Philippines from July 31 to August 4. An opportunity to learn about a continent that is growing rapidly.
Keeps going on. This time was in The Philippines for the meeting of the Asian treasurers entity.
The meeting took place in Cagayan de Oro City, in Mindanao, from July 31 to August 4.
It was a good occasion to get to know the neighbor’s life in Asia, a continent which in spite of being the youngest in our Congregation, is increasing in a very visible and important way.
After having shared the situation of our entities, with the respective challenges and chances, we had a formation session given by Dr. Joselito Bacon, an associate financial planner, real estate broker and certified financial market professional. He helped the group to deepen a vision of the treasurer as a steward and to enhance the communication as the main tool in the task of the leader. His Jesuit formation was quite clear in recalling the importance of discernment in the decision process.
An important part of the meeting was dedicated to the questionnaire in preparation of the General Chapter (the financial questions) and it permitted the treasurers to share their difficulties, hopes and possible strategies for the future.
The meeting ended with the wish of continuing these kinds of gatherings and with a draft of a possible agenda for the future.
