On August 12, 2017, the anniversary of the death of our founder, four Dehonian confreres from the Recife Province of Brazil (BRE) were ordained as deacons in a ceremony presided over by Dehonian Bishop André Vital Felix da Silva in the parish of Santa Chiara Paulista. The new deacons –– Henrique Benjamin, José Valdinã, Manoel Lourenço and Rodrigo Arruda –– chose for their diaconate ministry the Dehonian motto “Ecce venio,” recalling Christ’s obedience to the Father translated into the service dimension.
A large number of faithful were present, and many priests from other Brazilian Provinces concelebrated. At the end, Fr. Carlos Alberto da Silva, provincial superior of BRE, thanked the bishop, the guests present and in particular, the deacons who minister to the service of the Church and the congregation.
