On January 25, 2025, seven brothers were ordained as deacons by Bishop Yohanes Harun Yuwono, Archbishop of the Palembang Archdiocese. The ordination ceremony took place at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Saint Paul Minor Seminary in Palembang, Indonesia.
Among the seven, two deacons—Deacon Daniel Depan Pratama and Deacon Stanislaus Kostka Bima Dwi Atmaja—are candidates for the diocesan priesthood of the Palembang Archdiocese.
The remaining five are Dehonian deacons from the Indonesian Province: Deacon Isidorus Bryan Bowo Pangestu, SCJ, Deacon Gregorius Virdiawan Mubin, SCJ, Deacon Andreas Suko Ari Wasono, SCJ, Deacon Albertus Frans Yoseph K., SCJ, and Deacon Agustinus Dwi Handono, SCJ.
As the ordination coincided with the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, Bishop Yuwono focused his homily on St. Paul’s life. He highlighted Paul’s respect for other apostles in his ministry and emphasized Paul’s acknowledgment of his weaknesses. The bishop stressed how St. Paul opened his heart to God’s grace, enabling him to faithfully carry out his mission.
The Superior Provincial of INA province, Fr. Andreas Suparman, gave a brief speech about his support for the newly ordained. He assigned D. Albertus Frans to go on a mission in Papua.
Then it was continued with having lunch together.
