Coordinated by the Centro Studi Dehoniani (Dehon Study Center) in Rome, but above all, organized and developed by the continental theological commissions around the world, the International Dehonian Theological Seminar is about to begin its reflections. Over 50 Dehonians will gather in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, July 20-25, to reflect on the Dehonian identity as it is experienced in many different cultures.
The theme of the gathering is “Charism and Devotions: toward an inculturated Dehonian identity.” There will be two aspects to the reflection: 1) devotion, which is a combination of social environment, culture and spirituality, and 2) the Dehonian charism, the Dehonian values created and shared by Fr. Leo John Dehon. Participants will address the challenge of how our communal and personal devotion help us to grow in our identity.
The basis of the work together will be the texts developed last year by the continental commissions following surveys done in their respective countries.
The seminar in Yogyakarta can be followed on a website prepared for the gathering: www.charismdevotions.org. Already several materials related to the issues of the seminar are available on the site.
