The International College of Rome celebrates Fr. Gilbert and Fr. Guy
On October 21, the International College of Rome community celebrated 25 years of religious profession of Fathers Gilbert Kamta Tatsi and Guy Basile Fouomené.
The international SCJ community in Rome rejoiced at a special occasion: October 21, 2023 marked the 25th anniversary of the religious life of Fathers Guy Basile Fouomené, doctoral student of canon law in the Pontifical Lateran University, and Gilbert Kamta Tatsi, superior of the community.
The celebration was attended, in addition to the community of the Generalate and the International College, by nearly 20 guests and friends of the confreres. The solemn mass was presided by Fr. Basile, while the homily was given by Fr. Gilbert, both in Italian and French.
In his homily, Fr. Superior shared the vision of the community from the African experience of the Dehonian charism. He referred to the philosophy of Ubuntu which is based on inter-human relationships and the moral necessity of mutual help. Fr. Gilbert experienced in his religious life exactly this way of living in Cameroon.
Recalling the 25 years of consecrated life of the confreres, it is useful to echo the words of Fr. Dehon on the occasion of his 25 years of religious profession:
As for me personally, dear sons, on the occasion of this jubilee I humble myself before God and ask forgiveness from all of you for having so little edified you during this long period. I heartily forgive all those who have caused me pains; I so much need to be forgiven as well. I especially commend to you union, charity, and mutual forbearance, and I beseech Our Lord, through the intercession of Most Holy Mary and our Holy Protectors, to shed the best blessings of His Heart widely upon you.
