On July 9, Jorge Manuel Couto Goncalves of the Portuguese Province was ordained a priest in the cathedral of Porto. He joined several others being ordained as priests or deacons for the Diocese of Porto and other religious congregations. The new presbyter completed his training in various communities within the province. From 2010 to 2012 he lived his SCJ religious life in the mission in Angola.
Prior to ordination he did a pastoral year at the Major Seminary of the Diocese of Porto and with the Faculty of Theology at the Catholic University of Porto, where he completed a master’s degree in theology.
On Sunday, July 16, he celebrated his first Mass in his home area of Noura, in the Municipality of Murça, Diocese of Vila Real.
